Research Scientist

Purpose The Research Scientist will support the research projects within the department led by faculty, fellows and residents. This position will provide the following types of support to ensure research projects run smoothly, meet the study specific objectives and within the specified timelines: study design and development, database development and support, data collection and management, data analysis, and publication and presentation development. Responsibilities Data Management: Develops methodologies and databases for collecting data using REDCap, Qualtrics and other data collection platforms. Manages data for clinical/non-clinical trials in all stages of study from different sources: collection, extraction, quality control, cleaning, data manipulation, preparation. Provides insight into current health data architecture and possible solutions to barriers. Monitors for compliance with federal and state regulations as well as internal and partner requirements (such as IRB approval, Dell Medical School policies) needed to access or share health data. Serves as an internal resource to faculty, fellows, and residents to answer questions related to data access, data aggregation, and data management. Works closely with analysts and informatics staff and with external data teams in Dell Medical School's partner institutions. Receives, manages and delivers requested data tasks; works with data requestors to translate data requests into logical queries using standard language and tools. Statistical Consulting and Study Collaboration: Collaborates with investigators to develop statistical analysis plan. Carries out statistical analyses independently/completes statistical responsibilities for more complex projects with supervision. Performs power and sample size calculations. Helps to define research questions and then translates into appropriate methodologies and statistical analyses. When applicable, provides feedback about study design, protocols and feasibility as it relates to given timelines and setting. When applicable, assists with the interpretation of data. When applicable, assists with the preparation of data for presentations and publications. Regularly attends division research meetings, lab meetings and 1:1 meetings with collaborators inside and outside of the institution. Required Qualifications Master's degree in a related field 10 years of professional experience with complimentary experience in a data-related field such as data analysis and data management or a PhD and 5 years of professional experience with complimentary experience in a data-related field such as data analysis and data management. 2 years' experience with biostatistical and epidemiological knowledge for descriptive statistics, data cleaning/validation, clinical data quality assurance and outcomes, or research design. Proficient in a range of statistical techniques and procedures. Ability to use R and SAS. Ability to perform power and sample size calculations. Experience developing REDCap databases. Ability to work in high-performing and multidisciplinary teams. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications PhD in related field or DrPH from accredited university. Management and analysis of large, complex clinical research trials. Familiarity with Gpower and PASS. Familiarity with SmartSheet, Qualtrics and other data management programs. Offset Utility Operator 7pm to 7am - Winston Salem Summary : The Offset Utility Operator position requires employees to operate and/or assist in the operation of various equipment in the Offset printing department. Each area requires daily forklift operation and ability to enter data into computer systems. Each area requires attention to detail. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Operate Jogger and Guillotine machines, using tape measure to verify within 1/32"; operate Guillotine computer system to program desired number of cuts and location of cuts. Operate Jogger machine and controls, putting loads on correct pallets and alignment of load on pallet, lifting of wooden and plastic pallets onto and doff loads on Jogger. Unitize all loads from department according to inventory or shipping specifications using large panel saw, strapping bander and large drill for drilling strapping holes as needed. Loads coming off press must be same height and counts and must match press production. Enter finished goods data for every job coming off press into AS400 inventory system and move units to proper location in the system; also issue and return jobs in system. Operate forklift (sit down) and electric pallet jack (no truck dock-plate loading duties) to stage loads by location for shipping and manufacturing inventory. Perform preventative maintenance on Jogger and Guillotine machines as scheduled. Maintain clean and neat work areas at all times and follow all sanitation procedures. Follow all Safety Rules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area. Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures. Overtime is required. Perform other duties as assigned. Sheeter Roll Stand Job duties (in addition to duties and responsibilities mentioned previously): Order roll stock needed according to Sheeter schedule by notifying clamp truck driver. Cut steel bands off roll stock and to cut waste wraps from rolls. Unwrap rolls and use tape measure to ensure correct roll width is being loaded, use roll stock pushing machine to move roll into position to load. Lower arms of machine into correct position, clamp roll and move into working position, thread paper into slicing head of machine and set proper brake pressure. Unload any empty cores or left over rolls and apply correct inventory tags, or stage for proper disposal. Move loads with electric pallet jack out of machine, place empty pallets into machine, remove trim waste from Gaylords as need and load empty Gaylords. Operate the entire machine during breaks or while operator is absent; including using the computer system to set-up and run the job with correct sizes from the work instructions and to perform all quality checks. Move sheeted loads to staging area for printing department. Assist with Sheeter preventative maintenance as scheduled. Press Helper Job duties (in addition to duties and responsibilities mentioned previously): Prepare plates, ink and paper for the next job on press. Read job instructions and put the correct ink into the press and use wash-up procedures to remove ink after job is complete. Mount and remove blankets on press and retrieve proper coating blankets from the information on the Excel spreadsheet for location retrieval. Operate press feed section and electronic function control board while 2 nd press person is on break or filling in for the 1 st press person. Perform color and quality checks while filling in for 2 nd press person. Assist Press Operator with preventative maintenance as scheduled.
