Job Description Job Description JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Care Coordinator, a Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for direct care of teen parents and their children. The RA provides supervision, observes behavior, teaches life, coping and parenting skills, as well as awareness of community resources to enable the teen mother to learn and become a self-sufficient and nurturing parent. The RA must perform her job in a manner that enhances client self-esteem, offers a model of successful behavior and supports learning. The job is performed in a trauma informed residential setting, and therefore requires flexible scheduling in order to meet contract requirements and client needs. This position requires evenings, night and weekend assignments. Essential Functions of Position: · Demonstrates positive role modeling of parent child interactions. · Participates actively as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the ongoing assessment of the teen parents and child/ren. Implements appropriate measures to ensure safety of mother and child as directed. · Participates actively as a member of an interdisciplinary team to formulate, implement and modify treatment goals and objectives that reflect the individual needs of the mother and child, goals of the program and targeted outcomes. · The night staff is responsible as assigned for the inventory of supplies. · The night staff is responsible for completing safety checks as assigned and filling out the appropriate forms. · Night staff, as assigned, is responsible for checking the client files nightly for completeness. Also, the log book and medication books are checked for completeness and a report given to the Resident Counselor. · Night staff is responsible for restocking forms and supplies in the office(s). · Communicates effectively with teens and their families, collateral agencies and community organizations, including timely follow-up and demonstrated responsiveness to client service needs. · Complies with all agency and departmental operational policies and procedures as well as contract and licensing requirements. This includes, but is not limited to: record keeping, data and outcomes management, follow-up, licensing and contract and requirements, and OSHA workplace safety. · Participates in developing and implementing training, both individual and groups for teen mothers, in compliance with the agency and DCF goals and objectives for the TPP program. · Responds effectively to internal and external audit procedures and corrective action requests, ensuring that all necessary adjustments are completed in a timely manner. · Actively participates in interdepartmental collaboration as assigned, to facilitate service integration and the successful completion of special projects. · Attends regularly scheduled supervision meetings and assumes responsibility for identifying learning needs and seeking training opportunities to improve skills. · Complies with all personnel policies and procedures, seeking council from supervisor as indicated. · Attends and actively participates in all internal and external meetings as assigned.
