Summary: P2D is currently seeking dedicated and experienced truck drivers with valid Class A truck driving licenses to join our team. As a truck driver at P2D you will play a crucial role in our transportation operations, focusing primarily on deliveries within a 300-mile radius of the terminal and at times transporting goods over long distances exceeding 300 miles per trip pending business need. The truck drivers may also be requested to do port/yard/rail ramp moves between service locations and the terminal. What You‘ll Do: Transportation of Goods: Safely and legally operate company vehicles to transport goods locally and over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws, DOT, and FMCSA regulations. Terminal-Based Operations: Start and end the workday, or tour of duty when operating regionally (laying over), at the terminal, ensuring the timely departure and return of all assigned deliveries. Route Execution and Optimization: Effectively execute assigned routes while strategically considering factors such as traffic, weather conditions, and delivery schedules, while ensuring adaptability of changing conditions to ensure prompt and safe/compliant deliveries. Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, promptly reporting any maintenance issues. Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of the vehicle. Documentation: Complete accurate and timely paperwork, including delivery and mileage logs, to comply with company policies and regulatory requirements. Communication: Maintain effective communication with dispatch, shippers, and receivers to provide updates on delivery status and address any issues that may arise during transportation. Compliance: Stay current on and adhere to all DOT and FMCSA regulations applicable to local and regional transportation, including hours of service, weight limits, and vehicle maintenance requirements. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, representing P2D positively when interacting with clients and the public. Qualifications: License & Medical Card: Valid Class A commercial driver‘s license with a clean driving record and valid medical card. Experience: 24 months of verifiable and proven Class A driving experience in the past 3–5 years as a truck driver, demonstrating a commitment to safety and reliability. No more than 3 moving violations and no more than 1 preventable accident in the past 3 years. It is a plus but not a requirement if you have some experience in the following: use of liftgates, OTR driver, hazmat and tanker endorsement. Knowledge: Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations related to local transportation. As well as hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software for ELD and TMS. Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and move heavy items, as well as sit for extended periods during transportation, within Hours-of-Service Regulations. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, dispatch, and customers. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing schedules, traffic conditions, weather conditions, and delivery requirements. Willing and able to maximize DOT 8-day 70-hour rule when required during the work week.
