Cleveland Clinic’s G90 Urology Medical/Surgical Unit is dedicated to the care of post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients and focuses on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention and ambulation. Patients in this unit range in age from young adult to geriatric, however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion. A caregiver in this position works as needed on day, evening, night and/or weekend shifts. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
