Class A CDL Route Driver (End Dump) Location: Houston, TX / Katy, TX Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly Class A CDL Route Driver – End Dump TrailerAbout the Role Denali is seeking a safety-focused Class A CDL Route Driver to join our growing operations team. This position is responsible for operating Class A commercial vehicles equipped with end dump trailers to safely collect and transport organic food waste from customer locations throughout assigned routes. Drivers average 15–25 customer stops per day while providing excellent customer service and maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety policies. This is a local, first-shift position , allowing drivers to be home daily. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, comfortable working in odor-intensive environments and all weather conditions, and has experience operating manual transmission trucks and performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Schedule First Shift Local routes with home daily Overtime may be required based on operational needs Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTransportation & Equipment Operation Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles with end dump trailers in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety policies. Operate both 38' Wabash and 40' Travis end dump trailers. Safely operate manual transmission commercial vehicles. Complete assigned collection routes averaging 15–25 customer stops per day . Safely operate hydraulic end dump systems during loading and unloading. Transport organic food waste to designated disposal or processing facilities. Safely maneuver and service 65-gallon totes weighing up to 75 pounds . Keep customer locations clean and free of debris after servicing containers. Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance Perform complete DOT-compliant pre-trip and post-trip inspections , including inspection of: Brakes Slack adjusters Tires Lights Hydraulic systems Air lines Suspension components All required safety equipment Additional responsibilities include: Crawling underneath trucks and trailers to inspect slack adjusters, brakes, suspension components, and other critical safety systems. Reporting equipment defects, maintenance concerns, or safety issues immediately. Maintaining assigned trucks and trailers in a clean, safe, and professional condition. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records and Hours of Service documentation. Complete service tickets, vehicle inspection reports, maintenance reports, and all required DOT paperwork accurately. Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures. Participate in required safety meetings and ongoing training. Customer Service Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, and operations personnel. Represent Denali professionally while providing dependable, high-quality service. Maintain a positive attitude and strong customer relationships throughout assigned routes. Minimum Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) . Ability to pass a DOT physical, DOT drug screen, and background screening . Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Ability to safely operate manual transmission commercial vehicles. Experience performing thorough DOT-compliant pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements. Ability to inspect critical vehicle components, including brakes and slack adjusters. Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and reliability. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience operating end dump trailers . Experience with 38' Wabash and/or 40' Travis end dump trailers. Experience hauling food waste, agricultural products, or bulk materials. Familiarity with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). Strong customer service and communication skills. Physical Requirements This position is physically demanding and requires candidates to be able to: Lift and carry up to 75 pounds . Push, pull, roll, and maneuver 65-gallon totes weighing up to 75 pounds . Frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, climb, and reach throughout the workday. Crawl underneath trucks and trailers to inspect brakes, slack adjusters, suspension components, and other safety equipment. Safely operate hydraulic end dump trailer systems. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, and humidity. Work in an odor-intensive environment handling organic food waste and recycling materials. Work Environment This is a local, first-shift driving position operating primarily outdoors. Drivers routinely work in changing weather conditions and around food waste, organic materials, mud, dust, insects, and odors associated with the organic recycling industry. Candidates must be comfortable working in physically demanding conditions while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and environmental stewardship.
