The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and loaders. This is a field-based role where you will travel to job sites to perform maintenance and repair services on heavy equipment. As a Heavy Equipment Field Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment operates efficiently, meets all safety standards, and is in compliance with state and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities: Perform diagnostic tests and repairs on heavy equipment including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Conduct preventative maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying the root cause of the issue and recommending appropriate repairs. Use computerized diagnostic equipment and software to diagnose and repair equipment. Complete work orders and maintenance records, documenting all repairs and services performed. Operate and maintain a service truck equipped with tools, equipment, and parts needed to perform on-site repairs. Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates on equipment status, repair progress, and estimated completion times. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies and procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including service vehicle, tools, and equipment. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in heavy equipment maintenance preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Knowledge of diesel engines and related systems, including fuel injection systems, turbochargers, and exhaust aftertreatment systems. Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics, manuals, and technical documents. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Ability to work independently in a field-based environment, managing your own schedule and prioritizing workload. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed. Physical Demands: The Heavy Equipment Field Technician position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including but not limited to: Lifting and carrying heavy equipment and tools, up to 75 pounds. Climbing, bending, and kneeling in tight spaces to access equipment. Working in outdoor environments in various weather conditions. Operating heavy equipment and machinery.
