About the Role S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) is the largest global resource for essential index-based concepts, data, and research, home to iconic financial market indicators such as the S&P 500® and the Dow Jones Industrial Average®. This position supports the legal, compliance, risk, and government affairs team delivering advice to advance the business and safeguard reputation, people, and assets. The Team Reports to the Associate General Counsel and Managing Director for the Americas. Provides legal support to the S&P DJI business, including legal advice, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts related to licensing indices, digital assets, DeFi technology projects, blockchain technology, data licensing, joint marketing, and co‑development collaborations. Reviews marketing material, conducts legal research, manages external legal resources, and trains employees on legal issues and contracting procedures. Responsibilities Shape S&P DJI’s engagement with decentralized finance, digital assets, and blockchain-based market infrastructure. Structure, draft, negotiate, and advise on complex commercial agreements for DeFi, digital assets, licensing indices, data subscription, inbound data, and blockchain technology deployment. Collaborate with legal, product, technology, and commercial leaders to provide practical, forward‑looking, strategic, and legal advice on emerging products and initiatives. Support compliance with applicable policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality, insider trading, and other policies). Assist the business in responding to proposal requests, customer due diligence, and risk questionnaires. Lead special projects as assigned by management. Qualifications J.D. or LLM and admitted to practice law in any of the states listed within the location. At least 6years of legal experience, including in‑house practice, with a focus on commercial contract negotiation and drafting. Demonstrated interest and familiarity with financial services, investment products, decentralized finance, digital asset regulation, digital asset ecosystems, blockchain infrastructure, and tokenized assets. Familiarity with data licensing, intellectual property principles, and business technology. Excellent drafting, negotiating, and communication skills (written and spoken). Ability to manage high‑volume, complex environments with sound judgment and adaptability. Strong organizational skills and ability to accommodate client needs while protecting S&P DJI’s interests and mitigating liability risk. Compensation and Benefits For US candidates, the anticipated base salary range is $149,031 to $260,291.25USD, adjusted for geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
