Huge perk is getting to know the surgeons here and being able to request them to care for family members etc. How you'll contribute A Registered Nurse (RN), who excels in this role: Assesses the needs of the patients and develops plan of care for the patient during their surgical intervention in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Understands and applies the principles of aseptic technique and peri-operative nursing. Provides complete and accurate documentation for all operative records within the electronic health record (op-time) system. Possesses knowledge and demonstrates the proper use, care and handling of all equipment, instruments and supplies within the operating room environment. Accepts accountability for clinical care of patient Initiates and coordinates time out and supports all patient safety initiatives. Participates in teaching students, orientation of new personnel and providing continuing education for OR staff. Attends, participates and completes all required meetings, in-services and educational programs annually. Assesses, recognizes, records and reports to appropriate surgical team members all signs/symptoms or changes in patient's condition. Participates on committees and special assignments as needed. Participate in professional organizations such as AORN. Encouraged to seek certification as an operating room nurse. Maintains confidentiality with regards to patient/employee information. Supports and follows all AORN/AAMI/OSHA Standards and Recommended Practices. Maintains knowledge of disaster planning and can fulfill a role in specific disaster plans. Participates in reviewing revising the philosophies, objectives, procedure cards, policy/procedure, and job descriptions on a continual basis. Participates in quality control programs/ Follows Universal Precautions Commits to service excellence. What we're looking for Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include: Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
