Summer Lifeguard

Job Description Job Description Essential Functions Iowa Sports Management's Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe environment in and around the pool area. They are responsible for the safety of all members/residents using the pool, including vigilant observation of pool users, enforcing all pool rules and policies, and performing lifesaving duties in accordance with American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification standards. They must also identify and respond to all emergencies quickly, professionally and decisively in accordance with ISM procedures, and administer first aid and CPR as required. Daily attendance is required. Other Primary Tasks Identify and report potential accident hazards and safety issues. Attentiveness to and prevention of accidents in and around the pool. Responsible for certain pool related maintenance to ensure the facility and pool remain safe, clean, and a friendly environment for all patrons, including but not limited to adding water to the pool when necessary, sweeping pool floor and skimming out any debris, sweeping/mopping pool deck over the course of every shift and as needed and other tasks as needed or directed. Monitor and record pool chemical levels on an hourly basis and keep the facility manager informed of any changes or unusual readings. Constant communication with supervisor. Secondary Tasks A little service goes a long way; learn members’ routines and habits - e.g.: if you know that the resident always uses a kickboard, take one out for them.
