Practice Highlights: The practice has 12 cardiac and thoracic surgeons across SHVI and 28 surgical APPs at three sites Busy practice averaging 1500 cases a year between cardiac and thoracic services The practice is structured with inpatient, outpatient and surgical teams and utilizes a closed ICU Job Summary Coordinate, provide, and assist in providing comprehensive quality patient care to the Cardiothoracic patients in collaboration with a supervising physician. Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and consultation in collaboration with a supervising physician. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served. Candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently with strong decision-making skills. Strong communication skills a must. Will be working with a variety of MDs, APPs and ancillary staff for inpatient management and coordination of patient care. Work in the inpatient setting on a daylight rotating four, 10-hour shift schedule with rotating weekend coverage. Anticipate to work 1 weekend every 3-4 weeks. No OR responsibilities. No call. Travel may be required to other sites. Procedures, including bedside talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, pericardial drain removal, and wound vac placements. Ideal candidates: Graduated from an accredited NP or PA program AND maintain a current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS/ACLS Certified.
