Accounting Manager

Great for someone who enjoys figuring out why things are happening and fixing them. • Lead and manage the month-end close process ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and financial statements are completed accurately and within established timelines. • Oversee and review general ledger ensuring proper coding, accuracy, and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies. • Perform and review complex account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, intercompany, and sub-ledger), ensuring discrepancies are identified, researched, and resolved promptly. • Manage all aspects of payroll accounting including reconciliation of payroll reports to the general ledger, tracking of liabilities, and ensuring accuracy of wages, taxes, and benefit allocations. • Administer and oversee employee garnishments ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, proper withholding, and accurate reporting. • Partner with HR and Payroll teams to ensure alignment between payroll processing and financial reporting, including audits of payroll data and controls. • Support internal and external audit, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries. • Ensure compliance of fund accounting, grant reporting requirements, and healthcare-related financial regulations. • Develop, document, and improve policies, procedures and internal controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or operational improvements. • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management to build a high-performing team. • Collaborate cross-functionally with department leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
