Job Description Chief Medical Officer (CMO) opening in Woodbridge, Virginia (Permanent)Approximately 20 miles to DCThis is a permanent position.Dates: OngoingOpportunity Details:Executive leadership role reporting directly to the CEOCombination of administrative leadership and clinical primary care responsibilitiesOversee all clinical, operational, and performance improvement activities across a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)Lead development and implementation of systems to ensure high-quality, safe, evidence-based careServe as clinical strategist to executive leadership and Board of DirectorsProvide oversight of medical management decisions, clinical policies, and care delivery standardsParticipate in board committees and organizational strategic planningLead Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives, including peer review and performance monitoringConduct chart audits, referral utilization review, and clinical policy updatesManage and mentor clinical staff, setting standards for professional performanceSupport recruitment, credentialing, and ongoing development of providersCollaborate with community partners to expand programs and servicesDrive initiatives related to value-based care, clinically integrated networks, and population health strategiesOversee clinic operations including workflows, EMR optimization, staffing, and patient experienceMaintain oversight of budgets, compliance, audits, and regulatory readinessClinical Responsibilities:Provide direct primary care to uninsured and underinsured patient populationsPerform patient assessments, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluationsPrescribe medications and manage treatment plansMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in peer review and quality programsEnsure adherence to safety protocols and patient confidentiality standardsRequirements:MD or DO with active Virginia medical license (or eligibility)Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family MedicineDEA license and CPR certificationMinimum 5 years of healthcare leadership or management experienceExperience in FQHC or similar community-based setting preferredStrong background in quality improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar preferred)Experience with value-based care models, ACOs, or risk-based contracting preferredDemonstrated leadership, communication, and team-building skillsAbility to manage complex clinical and operational environmentsCompensation & Benefits:Competitive executive compensation packageFull benefits packageLeadership role with significant growth and organizational impactOpportunity to shape clinical strategy and long-term direction
