Performs repairs to engine and parts not performed by another department. The position is responsible for meeting or exceeding all TARC policies and procedures with strict adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations; and performing related duties as assigned. May have the assistance of another mechanic Makes road repairs if able, or brings the coach back to the garage and arranges for another coach by radio Repairs or replaces parts in transmission, adjusts brakes, treadle valves using mechanics hand tools and lubricating grease Completes report of trouble call(s) ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Raises coach on hydraulic lift at suitable height for the individual Removes back seat to access Jefferson door if required Changes tires if required May train new employees or advise others, depending upon experience May clean shop if required Cleans parts using Safety Clean parts basin Performs other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years diesel, or five (5) years automotive mechanic verifiable work experience. Must be at least 21 years of age Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Kentucky or Indiana Commercial Class B Driver's License with a passenger and air brakes endorsements within 60 days of hire. CDL Permit must be obtained prior to date of hire Successful performance on pre-employment tests. Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the above stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to successfully pass a DOT Physical including bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
