As a dedicated Actuarial Analyst I , you will be a near-credentialed analyst responsible for independently applying complex technical and actuarial methodologies as well as requiring expert knowledge in one actuarial practice area (pricing, reserving, modeling, catastrophe risk, claims analytics, product management, etc.) to complete unstructured projects. What you'll do: Independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies, as well as proficient actuarial knowledge, to complete unstructured projects Select and ensure quality of data used to perform trend analysis supports rate level indications; translate business problem into technical requirements; run catastrophe models and interpret and communicate results to support business activities while executing and enhancing a strong control environment with guidance from an experienced catastrophe modeler. Utilize actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to augment actuarial work product. Create and deliver training to teammates on mechanics of actuarial tools and processes. Apply understanding of products supported, stakeholders’ needs, and industry trends to solve unstructured business problems. Identify compliance gaps and process improvements and recommends develops solutions. Lead unit initiatives and participate in cross-functional efforts as a technical subject matter expert. Effectively communicate insights and solutions to all audiences, including executive leadership. Synthesize complex and conflicting information into a clear and influential value proposition. What you have: Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree. 4 years of Actuarial or analytical business experience. No more than 2 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams away from Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) Credential and All Validation of Education Experience (VEEs) completed. Demonstrated competency with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used to support fact-based decision-making. Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, R, SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems. The Opportunity As a Senior Property Adjuster, you will work within defined guidelines and framework, investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle complex property insurance claims presented by or against our members. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. The Inside Senior Property Adjuster role is a telephone concentrated environment without physical inspection of loss. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with paid overtime available. Training will be approximately 12 weeks, Monday – Friday and hours may vary by location. Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to an eight-hour work shift ranging between 8:00 am – 5:30 pm (local time) Monday to Friday with availability for occasional evenings and weekends based on business needs. What you'll do: Proactively manage assigned claims caseload comprised of claims with moderate complexity damages that require commensurate knowledge and understanding of claims coverage. Partner with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate moderate complexity claims resolution. May also involve external regulatory coordination to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance. Investigate claim damages by conducting research from various sources, including the insured, third parties, and external resources. May identify and resolve potential discrepancies and identify subrogation potential resulting from unusual characteristics. Identify coverage concerns, review prior loss history, determine and create Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals, when appropriate. Determine coverage through analyzing investigation information involving moderate complexity policy terms and contingencies. Determine and negotiate moderate complexity claims settlement. Develop recommendations and collaborate with management for determining settlement amounts outside of authority limits and accurately manages claims outcomes. Maintain accurate, thorough, and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process. Apply proficient knowledge of estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools; Utilize platforms and tools to prepare claims estimates to manage moderate complexity property insurance claims. Apply working knowledge of industry standards of inspection, damage mitigation and restoration techniques. Serve as an informal resource for team members. Recognize and address jurisdictional challenges such as applicable legislation and construction considerations. Support workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours. May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs. Work various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed. Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures. What you have: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. 2 years relevant property adjusting and/or claims adjusting experience handling moderately complex claims or construction related industry/insurance experience. Developing knowledge of residential construction. Working knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms. Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Working knowledge of property claims contracts and interpretation of case law and state laws and regulations. Proficient in prioritizing and multi-tasking, including navigating through multiple business applications. May need to travel up to 50% of the year (local & non-local) and/or work catastrophe duty when needed. Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts. Experience with full file ownership handling claims from start to finish (FNOL, estimating, reviewing policy, making coverage decisions, settlement). Insurance industry designations such as AINS, CPCU, AIC, SCLA (or actively pursuing). Proficiency in Xactimate (Level 1 and/or Level 2 certification). Experience in a call center environment. Currently hold an active Adjuster License. Bachelor’s degree. US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner. Physical Demand Requirements: May require the ability to crouch and stoop to inspect confined spaces, to include attics and go beneath homes into crawl spaces. May need to meet all USAA safe driving requirements including verification of driving record through MVR & possession of valid driver’s license. May require the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds to include lifting a ladder in and out of the trunk of a car. May require the ability to climb ladders and traverse roofs, this includes the ability to work at heights while inspecting roofs and attics. Has significant experience working with a variety of cases from start to finish to be considered competent and proficient in providing specialty treatment. Must possess sound and applied knowledge of the development of the symptoms being treated Should be trained in evidence-based specialized treatments (EBSTs). Prefer certification in the use these treatments Requires familiarity with Clinical Psychology and competency in basic psychological assessment techniques, psychotherapeutic intervention, family systems, and developmental orientation. Provides psychological treatment through personal interaction to aid patients to relieve emotional distress/psychiatric symptoms, clarify patient goals/priorities, expand social support networks in group or family format and find adaptive solutions to current life problems, while interacting in a professional manner to assure optimal psychological services are provided to the internal and external customers of PHHS. Collaborates with referring providers/professional colleagues to better understand and address the needs of patients' psychological and social needs. May receive or make referrals to external or other internal service providers/clinics for appropriate continuation or follow up care/treatment while maintaining a positive working relationship with all internal and external customers of PHHS. Provides a thorough written record of all therapy/counseling sessions including a comprehensive report addressing patient's presenting problems and current needs, and documentation of all relevant information/contacts pertaining to the patient while observing confidentiality laws and carrying out the goals and objectives as established for PHHS. Identifies and analyzes the design of counseling, interventions, assessments, medical and psychological referrals, patient access, processes, etc. for psychological service. Modifies approach, communication, and interaction to take account of sensory impairments and specific needs of all customers in particular, older adults. Implements or recommends appropriate changes to improve customer service, effectiveness, and efficiency that support the goals of PHHS. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in clinical psychology by attending seminars or workshops, reading professional journals and/or actively participating in professional organizations and integrates this knowledge as appropriate into the position. Serves on various committees, participates in clinical staff meetings for collective problem-solving activities, while maintaining a positive working relationship with all contacts to promote a harmonious and cooperative atmosphere with all internal/external customers. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Psychology area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans.
