POSITION SUMMARY Operates and monitors the extrusion process, which is an integral procedure in the manufacturing of dried, formed products. Those products are supplied to the kiln area where they are fired in kilns, in which ceramic products are produced that meet the required specifications & quality standards. II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The section is not intended to be an all-inclusive list and NGK Ceramics reserves the right to include other duties as assigned) : Completes the GHCM (Green Honeycomb Cutting Machine) touch pad set-up; checks/resets the batch, work count, and total count settings located on the weigh batch indicator; and records the settings on the Continuous Extrusion Activities Log Sheet. Performs established power-up/start-up procedures according to the work instructions. Checks the temperature of the formed product once per batch with a digital thermometer. Obtains a relay sample once the material through the die is stable; and measures on the optibel. Removes and cleans machine components such as dies, masking plates, spacers, etc.; and cleans belt feeder and work area, as required. Enters process data into the company’s information systems. Maintains the extruder information board with data gathered from the die travel ticket and from the actual tooling in use. Removes and tags any formed material exhibiting contamination; and moves material to the confinement area Collects ao into designated totes, following established procedures for collecting, packing and palletizing. Performs necessary change-over procedures according to established work instructions. Records all die adjustments during a production run onto the Die Adjustment Sheet. L. Works safely by avoiding forklifts; staying clear of forklift doors; using personnel doors when entering or exiting the buildings; and safely using overhead hoists. M. Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) activities as needed N. Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials. O. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. III. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES A. Job Description Job Description JOB TITLE: Cutter Operator DEPARTMENT: Production REPORTS TO: Bindery Supervisor POSITION SUMMARY Set up, operate and maintain a machine to cut preparatory paper stock and finished products. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES •Review specifications to determine page sequence, type of fold and page or sheet size. •Measure from edge of sheet using scale to determine incremental cutting positions from guide. •Enter cutting positions in proper order into computer memory. •Remove sheets of printed or unprinted paper stack from the load and place them on the cutter bed. Jog and align sheets against the cutter guide in preparation for cutting. •Activate computer to move sheets into first cut position. Activate double hand switches to begin cutting operation. •Examine cut material for any imperfections and adjust computer program as needed. •Remove finished or pre-finished material from the cutter bed and stack on pallets for shipment to the customer or next operation. •Record job information on job jackets and production sheets. •Change knives and lubricate as needed as recommended by manufacturers specifications. •Maintain good operational conditions on the machine and follow maintenance schedule provided by the Plant Manager to keep machine in best operating condition. Report any needed repairs or malfunctions to the Plant Manager and the Bindery Supervisor. •Ensures that their work area and the rest of the bindery remain clean and tidy. •Adheres to company policies and procedures, and abides by safety regulations. SKILLS, ABILITIES, WORKING CONDITIONS •High school graduate or equivalent and minimum 3 years experience. •Perform basic mathematical calculations. •Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, Job Jackets, press imposition and rule-up sheets. •Must be mechanically inclined. •Stand and walk 95% of the time. (Closed toed shoes required.) •Extensive lifting and bending actions. •Physically capable of lifting up to 75lbs. Job Description Job Description SUMMARY OF POSITION: Disinfection and sanitization all the physical areas of the processing areas and perform CIP and COP of product contact equipment and components to ensure the safety and quality of products.
