Critical Care Anesthesiologist
Somnia Anesthesia is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible critical care anesthesiologist to join their dynamic team at St. Joseph's Medical Center in the Sacramento Area. This full-time position involves providing 12 weeks of critical care medicine and 30 weeks of general anesthesia coverage. Practice Info The Anesthesiology department consists of 14 physicians, over 30 independent-practice CRNAs, and 24 Residents (8-10 daily on site). Services are provided for up to 19 anesthetizing locations daily, including acute care ORs, cardiac ORs, obstetrics, GI/endo, cath lab, interventional radiology, and a hospital ambulatory surgery center. Annual anesthesia case volume is approximately 14,300 cases, consisting of ~9,000 surgical cases, 800 cardiac cases, and 2,000 out-of-OR cases. OB services include 3,000 births annually. The Critical Care Medicine Team provides coverage for 4 ICUs (SICU, MICU, RICU, CCU) with a total of 40 ICU beds, with coverage divided between ICU teams. St. Joseph's Medical Center is a 355-bed hospital and part of the CommonSpirit Hospital System, with an Anesthesia Residency program that started in July 2021. Responsibilities Provide 30 weeks of Main OR anesthesia services. Supervise residents in OR and non-OR cases, occasionally sitting your own cases, with no CRNA supervision. Provide 12 weeks of Critical Care Medicine. Provide service for 4 ICUs (SICU-open, MICU-closed, RICU, CCU) with a total of 40 ICU beds, with coverage divided between ICU teams. Supervise fellows and residents in the ICU setting. Compensation $625,000 annually for full-time services; includes ICU and Anesthesia compensation. Up to $3,000 annually for CME. $50,000 commencement bonus. Relocation assistance/allowance available up to $10,000 for out-of-state or out-of-area candidates (receipts required).
