SUMMARY The Senior Catering Sales Manager ("Gerente de Catering") manages the sale and coordinates all arrangements for individuals having catered events at the resort, following the highest professional standards and promoting the company's sales-focused culture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Aggressively sells and solicits prospective customers according to property marketing plan and encourages them to book private-party functions at our property. Conducts scheduled and walk-in site tours of property. Meets with client and proactively helps them to choose specific banquet space and menus for the function. Accurately prepares catering contracts with program arrangements. Liaises with Marketing Department to assists with marketing materials such as submitting weddings to external wedding websites, developing and implementing programs to service and retain Catering business. Introduce new initiatives and practices to elevate Catering Sales experience and offerings. Identify new markets and develop solicitation strategies to introduce such markets. Assists in team leadership duties such as leading by example in conflict resolution, client management, system administrative management, timely communicating client’s needs to hotel staff and supporting DOCCS and ADOCCS. Acts as a leader within the Catering department, serves as a mentor for Catering Coordinator and Catering Manager. Assists with other Department Managers events and site visits when needed. Organizes account files and keeps a good track on tentative and definite bookings. Courteously welcomes and greets clients at the beginning of each function, and oversees function to ensure it is being run in a smooth and timely fashion. Introduces Banquet Manager and Banquet Captain in charge of the function to the client, in order to assure all needs and problems will be taken care of promptly. Runs weekly and monthly pace reports and ensures that monthly forecast is accurate. Resolves all disputes and/or operational issues before, during or after an event to a positive result. Reports any safety hazards or injuries and makes recommendations to eliminate future liabilities. Consults with representatives of client group or organization to plan details such as number of persons expected, space desired, and food service schedule. Notifies various department heads of event arrangements made. Inspects rooms and displays for conformance to needs and desires of group. Builds and maintains relationships with external vendors such as Wedding Planners, Rental Companies, Photographers and Florists. Regularly plans and initiates informational site visits and FAM events. Network with other similar hotels and Global Sales Organizations to maximize business opportunities. Develops and executes a successful business plan for the Catering department. Identifies areas of improvement, initiates action steps and follows through on a timely basis. QUALIFICATIONS Four-year bachelor's degree, two-year associates degree, trade school degree, professional certification or any equivalent. At least 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training. A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement. Experience running shifts, scheduling, performance management, problem-solving, guest servicing and running day-to-day operations. Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc. Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required. Ability to maintain a friendly, team-oriented, positive attitude and a professional appearance at all times. Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
