The RN prioritizes care based on patient needs, responds appropriately to changes in condition, and communicates effectively with providers and the care team. This role practices within the scope of licensure, education, and competency, and participates in quality and performance improvement activities. In the behavioral health setting, it emphasizes maintaining a therapeutic environment promoting stabilization, recovery and safe transitions of care based on an individualized care plan. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES:* *Professional Practice* * * Adheres to organizational policies, procedures, and service standards. * Practices in accordance with applicable regulatory and professional standards, including the Wyoming State Board of Nursing and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. * Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and effective communication. * Promotes a respectful, collaborative work environment and contributes to a culture of safety and service excellence. * *Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities* * * Provides safe, patient-centered care that minimizes risk and supports optimal outcomes. * Performs comprehensive assessments and reassessments, to include biopsychosocial assessments, in accordance with patient condition, age, and organizational policy. * Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care based on patient needs and response to treatment. * Prioritizes care and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition. * Administers treatments, medications, and interventions within scope of practice. * Assists with procedures and performs clinical skills requiring technical competence. * Coordinates and delegates care activities as appropriate. * Effectively utilizes de-escalation techniques * Supports safety planning and recovery goals * *Care Coordination & Communication* * * Communicates clearly and effectively with providers, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. * Collaborates with internal and external departments to support coordinated, team-based care. * Serves as a liaison between patients, families, and the care team to support understanding and continuity of care. * *Patient Education & Support* * * Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients and families. * Promotes patient and family involvement in care planning and decision-making. * Addresses psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs and incorporates them into care delivery. * *Quality, Safety & Documentation* * * Documents care in accordance with regulatory, legal, and organizational standards. * Identifies and reports safety concerns, near misses, adverse events, and patient complaints in a timely manner. * Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. * *Service Excellence & Work Environment* * * Treats patients and families with respect, dignity, and compassion. * Maintains effective working relationships within the department and across the organization. * Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. * * POSITION QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Experience & License* * * Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse license, required. * A graduate of an accredited school of nursing, an associate's degree in nursing is required. * Minimum 2 years nursing experience, preferred. * Minimum 1 year behavioral health experience, preferred. * BLS, required. * Central Registry, required * De-escalation training required. * ACLS, required within a year of the start date. * *Additional Skills* * * Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. * Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple patient care activities. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency or high-stress situations. * Knowledge of patient safety principles and infection prevention practices. * Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic health records (EHR). * Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. * Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to patient-centered care. * Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and / or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
